Overview

The Benefits Specialist is responsible for assisting with the enrollment and administration of all benefits for various employee groups including Corporate, Non-SCA, Service Contract Act (SCA) and CBA employees. The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, detailed oriented environment is essential.

This is a full-time hourly/non-exempt position.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  1. Ensures the accuracy of all employee benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information
  2. Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork including medical, disability and FMLA
  3. Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities
  4. Performs quality checks of benefits-related data
  5. Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes
  6. Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility
  7. Enrolls employees with insurance carriers and processes life status changes
  8. Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries
  9. Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to eligibility, enrollment, vesting, plan changes and contribution amounts
  10. Communicates with insurance and 401(k) plan vendors on a regular basis
  11. Responsible for yearly communication and notification of open enrollment process
  12. Assists with annual 401(k) and Health & Welfare Trust audits
  13. Gathers/maintains information to assist with accurate preparation of Form 1095C
  14. Assist with other duties as needed

 

 

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations including filing and compliance requirements affecting employee benefits programs including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Medicare, Social Security, and DOL requirements.
  • 5 years of recent experience in a benefits administration position.

Physical Requirements

Sedentary work -Occasionally exerting up to 10 pounds of force by lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects. Work involves sitting most of the time; walking and standing are required only occasionally.
