Overview

Shipping and Receiving Specialist:  Performs shipping, receiving, and reporting functions in a warehouse environment to assist the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority Warehousing & Logistics Support contract.

 

This is an hourly position.

Responsibilities

Shall perform a variety of warehousing duties, to include, but not limited to the following:

  • Performs as a technical point of contact for Shipping and Receiving functions
  • Performs Picks and Put Aways at 98% accuracy
  • Reviews Exception Reports and processes receipt transactions for frustrated material
  • Understanding of warehouse storage plans and warehouse operations
  • Perform daily cycle counts at a 98% accuracy rate as assigned
  • Performs daily inbound receipt and base return receipts at a 98% accuracy rate as assigned
  • Verifying materials against receiving, shipping, storage and inventory documents, noting any reporting discrepancies and damage
  • Routing materials to prescribed storage, freight forward and/or shipping locations
  • Storing, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods
  • Managing and taking inventory of received, shipped and/or stored materials daily
  • Examine stored materials and report deterioration and damage
  • Removing material from storage/receipt areas and preparing it for shipment
  • Process and/or affix, receipt, shipment, storage, pick/pack and other paperwork and reports as required
  • Provide causative research for misidentified, damaged, non-located material as required
  • Operates hand or power trucks and/or forklift in performing warehousing duties
  • May make scheduled and Emergency Deliveries as necessary
  • Will be required to operate 26' Covered Box Truck (Non-CDL Experience Required).
  • Will be required to pick-up delivery vehicle(s) from other site locations.

Qualifications

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Obtain and maintain a forklift license
  • DOT Medical Card Certification

Physical Requirements

Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
