  • Overview

    The Training Manager is responsible for identifying and coordinating training opportunities for VDOT technicians.

     

    MANCON desires for its workforce to be highly trained and certified in order to provide the best level of service to VDOT.  The Training Manager is responsible for managing, administering, and documenting MANCON’s employee training and certification program.  The Training Manager conducts training as required. Training will occur at VDOT locations, which includes overnight and weekend travel. Meetings with the customer may require business formal attire

     

    The Training Manager will support the Project Manager, in conjunction with the Assistant Program Manager and the Corporate Contract Support Team.

     

    While this posting states the work location is Virginia Beach (it is a requirement of the system to assign a work location city), work can actually be performed anywhere within the state of Virginia, with the primary work location being the nearest VDOT district office to the employees home.

    Responsibilities

    Training Program Management Requirements:

    • Review, familiarize with and adhere to the Product Group Catalog
    • Review, familiarize with and adhere to ISSP Policy and Procedures Manual
    • Review, familiarize with and adhere to MANCON’s SOPs, Manager Manual, and Safety Manual
    • Identify and coordinate training opportunities for VDOT technicians
    • Identify training opportunities for MANCON employees
    • Coordinate with vendors to obtain training session sponsorships
    • Create, obtain, or procure training material
    • Provide training on processes and procedures to new MANCON employees or employees that need refresher training
    • Document completed training and certifications
    • Plan and organize annual conference and regional training sessions, tasks such as event scheduling, hotel room coordination, choosing venue/guest speeker/menu, etc
    • Attend customer meetings to assess problems and concerns
    • Ask appropriate questions to ensure understanding of customer requirements
    • Answer questions regarding MANCON capabilities and resources

    Ancillary Requirements

    • Answer all messages phone\e-mail in a timely fashion
    • Disperse all communications between MANCON corporate and field employees as directed
    • Assist with delivery and pick-ups
    • Conduct project research and provide findings
    • Travel to perform site visits and safety inspections
    • Train personnel on forklifts as needed
    • Investigate and resolve personnel issues
    • Hire and terminate in accordance with MANCON policies
    • Monitor employee performance and address problems in accordance with established disciplinary processes

    Qualifications

    • 5 years computer experience
    • 5 years auto or heavy duty truck parts experience
    • 5 years inventory experience
    • 5 years customer service experience
    • 24-hour availability
    • Valid driver’s license with 2 years driving experience
    • Obtain and maintain trainer forklift certificate
    • Overnight and weekend travel to multiple sites

    Preferred Qualifications

    • P1 or P2 ASE Certification
    • Supervisory experience

    Physical Requirements

    Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

    Work is mostly performed in an office setting, however some requirements occur at storerooms and warehouses in the field which may have uncontrolled temperatures and dirt/dust/damp conditions.  Travel to site in a vehicle will occur.
