The Warehouse Specialist is responsible for coordinating the inventory transfer between stores and warehouses. The Warehouse Specialist will pick transfer orders, stage material, receive product, and perform inventory control tasks. The Warehouse Specialist works in coordination with a Warehouse Supervisor and Material Coordinator.
Receive material from commercial and government activities marked for activities operating at Pt Loma.
Manage stow locations of the material.
Place material in designated stowage locations.
Deliver material to customers based upon a schedule provided. Deliveries will be made utilizing government furnished material handling equipment that goes less than 25 mph and a 5-ton pick up vehicle.
Consolidate, package, and ship material received for customers operating in other geographic locations, as directed.
Travel to the pier‐side location to receive accept custody of repairable material or otherwise accept delivery of repairable items delivered by customer units.
Properly stow and maintain all materials received in accordance with established stowage segregation practices and security requirements.
Prepare repairable items for packaging and shipment following established guidelines. Preparation includes, but is not limited to, wrapping the carcass in bubble wrap, securely packaging the item in a cardboard box, and properly addressing and affixing all applicable shipping labels.
Limited receipt, stowage, and delivery of subsistence (food).
Infrequently, receive and deliver subsistence for units operating at‐sea. During the months of June, July and August, the frequency of this requirement may increase to three to four times per week to support at‐sea midshipmen training operations.
Other duties as required
Work is mostly performed in storerooms and warehouses which may have uncontrolled temperatures and dirt/dust/damp conditions. Work is also performed in vehicles traveling to customer sites.
